Mumbai Indians star batter Rohit Sharma earned widespread praise after his thoughtful gesture toward an injured groundstaff member at Wankhede Stadium went viral on social media, particularly on X, on Wednesday, May 6.

Ahead of MI’s IPL 2026 clash against the Lucknow Super Giants, considered one of Rohit’s shots during a nets session by accident struck a groundstaff member on the knee while he was working nearby. The incident quickly caught Rohit’s attention, and he stepped in to assist.

Despite coping with a hamstring injury himself, the veteran immediately halted practice and rushed over to ascertain on the staff member, earning admiration for his humility and prompt response.

Rohit Sharma’s Kind Act Goes Viral

The groundstaff member had earlier shared how Rohit Sharma quickly got here over and personally made sure he received medical care. Now, the Mumbai Indians have released a video on their official X handle, capturing the whole incident. Within the clip, Rohit is seen asking the staff member to remove the web before attempting a lofted shot, which by accident hit the Wankhede groundsman on the knee.

A visibly concerned Rohit immediately walked over to him, where other groundstaff and MI support staff had already gathered and were applying an ice pack to the injured area. Rohit Sharma was then seen instructing fellow groundstaff to assist the injured employee sit on a chair and rest his leg on an ice box.

The groundsman received immediate first aid, including a twig and basic medical care, before being taken away for further treatment. The veteran batter later checked on him again and shook hands with the injured Wankhede Stadium staff member.

Rohit Sharma’s exchange with the injured groundstaff member at Wankhede Stadium was also caught on video, before he made sure the staffer was taken for further medical care. The incident occurred during Rohit’s nets session, when the staff member, on duty near the practice area, was by accident hit on the knee by a lofted shot after being asked to remove the nets.

Mumbai Indians will play their next match on May 10, 2026, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The sport is scheduled to happen in Raipur at 7:30 PM IST, making it a crucial fixture because the tournament heads into its crucial phase.
