WWE has reportedly ramped up its efforts to remove streamer clips from social media in recent weeks, with a brand new report shedding light on how the takedowns are being handled. The corporate has drawn criticism after issuing a wave of copyright strikes against content creators, particularly response channels, leading to several accounts being suspended or banned.
In accordance with a report from Fightful Select, the recent crackdown is claimed to be the largest-scale takedown campaign WWE has carried out against videos created by streamers and online creators. The report states that the claims are being issued through automated systems operated by StreamEnforcement, an organization that describes itself as offering “a holistic and cost-effective content protection strategy tailored towards our partners’ unique needs.”
The situation has sparked a ton of backlash online, especially because WWE has steadily featured clips from content creators — including response channels — in recap packages and televised segments.
As of now, WWE has not publicly addressed the controversy.
