Vladimir Putin’s former schoolteacher seemed leery of the Russian president while meeting with him for dinner.
In a rigorously stage-managed meeting, Putin arrived at teacher Vera Gurevich’s Moscow hotel to take her out for a meal.
Upon seeing him, Gurevich, now 92, peered uncertainly at his face and asked him doubtfully: ‘Is that you just?’
Putin smiled and replied: ‘Yes, it’s me. It’s me.’
Her remarks have reignited questions over Putin’s use of body doubles, something the Kremlin boss is thought to do for security reasons.
Still, after the president seemingly confirmed his identity, Gurevich kissed him as he handed her a big bouquet.

Putin’s retired teacher, who taught him German, was bundled into the back of the Aurus and driven away for dinner within the Kremlin, escorted by security vehicles.
Gurevich has previously revealed how, aged 16, Putin slaughtered a duck on a faculty trip before it was cooked for dinner.
She said: ‘He pulled a blanket over himself, covering his head completely. He said: ‘Herald the unlucky one, lay her head in order that, without seeing her, I can sever her head with a single blow.’
She also revealed that as a schoolboy, Putin ‘wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about girls in any respect’, and she or he had anticipated he would follow a quite different profession path.
She said: ‘Truthfully, I could never imagine that it’d be Vladimir Putin who’d grow to be president, head of our great state. He’s a talented man, but I’ve all the time thought he’d make a lawyer.’

Western intelligence has found that paranoid Putin has grown increasingly concerned about security, and even lives and works in bunkers amid fears of a coup.
The president has abandoned his favourite palaces, fearing they may very well be targets of drone strikes – potentially by his own entourage.
The brand new evaluation, citing an unnamed Western intelligence agency, was first published by Russian news outlet Vital Stories.
‘Because the starting of March 2026, the Kremlin and Vladimir Putin have been concerned about a leak of sensitive information and, at the identical time, about the chance of a plot or coup attempt against the Russian president,’ it said.
‘Specifically, he fears the usage of drones for a possible assassination attempt by members of the Russian political elite.’
Putin’s Security Council Secretary, Sergei Shoigu – who was Minister of Defence for the primary years of the war – is allegedly related to the chance of a coup attempt.
