Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly open talks with Atletico Madrid over Arsenal goal Julian Alvarez in a move that might cost a staggering €150million (£130m).

Alvarez, 26, helped fire Atletico to the Champions League semi-finals where they were dumped out by the Gunners. But his long-term future within the Spanish capital is under scrutiny just two years after joining from Manchester City.

Arsenal are weighing up a move for the World Cup winner with sporting director Andrea Berta, who previously held the identical role at Atletico, directly involved within the move that took Alvarez from Manchester to Madrid in 2024.

Barcelona are also fascinated with signing Alvarez as they seek for a long-term substitute for Robert Lewandowski.

But reports in Spain now claim PSG have joined the race for his signature. El Chiringuito report the French champions have opened negotiations with Atletico having placed him on their shortlist of summer transfer targets with the report claiming the transfer fee involved could exceed €150m.

The Spanish radio show also reports Luis Enrique has held direct talks with Alvarez.

A primary ever European triumph will leave the north Londoners in a primary position to draw the largest names in the sport with former midfielder Parlour an admirer of Alvarez.

‘For me, Alvarez can be an awesome addition to the squad,’ Parlour told Metro in March.

‘There’ll at all times be people coming and getting into the summer since it’s a giant squad and so they can’t keep everyone completely satisfied. But Alvarez can be a implausible choice to have along with his pace and what we saw at Man City.

‘It was at all times going to be difficult for him fiddling with Erling Haaland there but when he did start and when he did play, he was at all times energetic.

‘He’s a young man too, so if he’s available it’s a yes for me. When understand how Arteta likes to work with young players to make them higher so I feel it might be an awesome addition, definitely.’
