Questions proceed to surround Hardik Pandya’s fitness after the Mumbai Indians captain uploaded videos of himself batting aggressively during a late-night rehearsal. Within the clips shared on Instagram, Hardik looked confident and in rhythm as he played attacking shots against the bowlers.

The all-rounder has not featured for Mumbai Indians since their defeat to Chennai Super Kings on May 2. He also didn’t travel with the squad to Dharamshala for the match against Punjab Kings on May 14 after being ruled out of the last two games on account of back spasms.

Despite that, Hardik’s latest workout session has hinted that his recovery is progressing well. Practising at a Reliance training centre, the MI skipper appeared comfortable on the crease and batted freely without showing any signs of pain or stiffness.

Mumbai Indians Provide Update on Hardik Pandya’s Fitness

Mahela Jayawardene provided an update on Hardik Pandya’s condition after Mumbai Indians’ defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The MI head coach revealed that Hardik was coping with a back problem and that the medical staff were closely monitoring his recovery in an effort to get him back on the sector soon.

Jayawardene added that the team didn’t wish to rush the all-rounder’s return and would as a substitute assess his condition every day before making any decision.

“Yeah. Hardik had a back issue which we were attempting to rectify, however it hasn’t settled in yet. So the medical guys were working on him. He couldn’t train the previous few days, so we didn’t wish to take a risk without knowing exactly. So we’ll see. It’s on a day-to-day basis. See how he feels.”

Mumbai Indians are already out of IPL 2026 with just six points from 11 games, but despite rumours of a fallout after Hardik Pandya unfollowed the franchise on social media, the MI captain appears desirous to return to motion.
