“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey pulled off one other vintage performance.
In the course of the peak of her MMA profession, Rousey became known for ending fights almost as soon as they began. She would spend months preparing for opponents, just for the opening bell to ring — and moments later, the fight would already be over.
On Saturday night, history repeated itself. The previous WWE Superstar stepped back into the MMA highlight for the primary time in years on May 16 on the Netflix-streamed MVP MMA event promoted by Jake Paul, where she faced fellow women’s MMA trailblazer Gina Carano.
The comeback didn’t last long.
Rousey stormed into the cage, the bell sounded, and just 17 seconds later the fight was over. She defeated Carano via first-round armbar submission on the 17-second mark, recreating the lightning-fast finishes that made her a world star.
Following the win, Rousey joked that she was heading back home to make more babies together with her husband, former UFC heavyweight Travis Browne.
