Toronto Maple Leafs Coaching Canadidates, and Dallas Stars Trade Candidates

Coaching candidates for the Toronto Maple Leafs

Luke Fox of Sportsnet: Potential Toronto Maple Leafs coaching candidates: Bruce Cassidy (Oilers seem a more likely landing spot), Manny Malhotra (will the Canucks grant anyone permission?), Jack Capuano, David Carle, Mike Yeo, John Gruden (Marlies coach), and Joe Sacco.

More candidates to think about: Pascal Vincent, Peter Laviolette, Gerard Gallant, Steve Sullivan, Dean Evason.

Matt Larkin of Day by day Faceoff: Toronto Maple Leafs potential coaching tiers.

Too Late? Bruce Cassidy – The Oilers could also be his preferred team.

The Veteran Retreads – Bruce Boudreau, Dean Evanson, Peter Laviolette, and Patrick Roy (can be disastrous).

The Toronto Maple Leafs can be enthusiastic about Vincent Trocheck

Second Possibilities – Kris Knoblauch, Todd Nelson, and Jay Woodcroft.

Fresh Perspective – Misha Donskov, Jay Leach, and Manny Malhotra.

Internal Candidates – John Gruden, Derek Lalonde, and Steve Sullivan.

Off the Board – Jussi Ahokas and David Carle.

NHL Watcher: Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast: “I don’t think Cassidy goes to find yourself in Toronto, I feel it’s unlikely he goes there and I wouldn’t say he’s there #1 selection either, from what I’m hearing, but I do think the Oilers have a legit rival in LA, I feel the Kings are very enthusiastic about Cassidy”

The Dallas Stars might have to make some trades to filter out cap room to re-sign Jason Robertson

Lia Assimakopoulos of the Dallas Morning News: Will the Dallas Stars have the opportunity to afford to re-sign pending RFA forward Jason Robertson, who shall be in search of at the very least $12 million? They’ve $11 million in projected salary cap space and still have to add two or three more forwards. The Stars might want to filter out some salary in the event that they need to bring him back. Potential trade options.

Radek Faksa – He has two years left at $2 million. He’s a great depth center who kills penalties. He might have surgery after a serious laceration to his foot that he suffered on the Olympics.

Sam Steel – Has a 12 months left at $2.1 million. A very good penalty killer who put up 12 goals and 21 assists in 73 games.

NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers, and the Dallas Stars

Ilya Lyubushkin – Last 12 months of his deal at $3.25 million. Played in just 53 games last 12 months. A very good depth defenseman, but re-signing Alexander Petrovic can be less expensive.

Tyler Myers – Gave up two picks to get him and has a 12 months left at $1.5 million. He was a healthy scratch for some playoff games after making some costly mistakes. May look to maneuver Lyubushkin over Myers. 12-team no-trade.
