Lavina Tandon Reveals Casting Couch Is Still A Reality
Speaking concerning the casting couch culture and the assumption that it not exists, Lavina clarified that such experiences still occur within the industry. She said, “No, that’s not true. It does exist. Mujhe recently kisi ne bola movies ke liye, bahut achhe se baat karke, ki ‘tumhari age itni ho gayi hai, kyun itna hard struggle kar rahi ho? Aise projects hote hain jahan perhaps you’ll be able to just fit into it, but haan, you should have to do a certain thing. Aur agar aap comfortable nahi ho, then you definately tackle them in such a way ki you get the job also, aur aapko kuch compromise bhi na karna pade.’”
She further explained how she reacted to the suggestion and reflected on her life decisions. Lavina added, “So I used to be like, okay. Aur primary soch rahi thi ki agar mujhe yeh karna hi hai, toh primary abhi kyun karu? I had my prime years in my 20s, tab primary kar sakti thi. Ab primary completely non-judgmental hoon about this fact ki jis ko karna hai woh kare, jis ko nahi karna woh na kare. Each are nice. It depends individual to individual.”
The actress also spoke about her personal boundaries and why she refuses to compromise for work. She said, “Mujhe personally lagta hai I don’t wish to compromise with any individual for my work against my will. Because then mujhe lagega ki mujhe mera kaam mere talent pe nahi, mere compromise pe mila hai. Aur for me intimacy may be very pure, it’s like a soul connection, an energy exchange. I can’t do it with anybody, and I don’t want it from my work.”
Lavina Tandon Breaks Silence On Casting Couch Culture
Lavina further shared that she selected to not proceed conversations after the incident to guard her popularity. She added, “Toh primary thi ki okay, thanks a lot, I’ll give it some thought. Aur phir maine us person se baat bhi nahi ki, because agar primary us group mein bhi gayi toh mera naam kharab ho sakta hai, chahe primary kuch bhi na kar rahi hoon.”
She concluded by stating that self-respect matters more to her than money or opportunities. Lavina said, “Toh mere liye ab shayad paisa kam mile, chalega, but meri izzat kam nahi honi chahiye. Because that’s what I even have built over all these years. And it’s okay. Jo comfortable hai, allow them to do it, since you never know woh kis background se aa rahe hain aur kya deal kar rahe hain.”
