Sachin Tendulkar Shares Heartfelt Message as Son Arjun Makes LSG Debut Against Punjab Kings

Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar shared a heartfelt message for his son, Arjun Tendulkar, after the left-arm fast bowler made his debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday, May 23. Following the match, the cricket icon posted a special note on X (formerly Twitter) praising Arjun for his patience and continuous labor.

He encouraged the young pacer to stay humble, stay grounded, and keep loving the sport. Sachin wrote on X:

“Well done, Arjun. Pleased with the best way you’ve carried yourself through this season, at all times believing in your ability, staying patient, working hard quietly, and remaining positive despite having to attend in your opportunity till the very last match. Cricket tests patience as much as skill, and also you handled each beautifully today. Keep your feet on the bottom, and proceed being in love with the sport like you mostly have.”

Throughout the match, Arjun broke a dangerous 140-run partnership by dismissing a well-set Prabhsimran Singh, who had scored 69 runs off 39 balls. The left-arm bowler used a pointy yorker aimed directly on the stumps to trap the opener leg-before-wicket. He finished his 4 overs with figures of 1 for 36, making him probably the most economical bowler for Lucknow in that innings.

Despite his efforts, the Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants suffered a seven-wicket defeat of their final league match of the season. The victory helped Punjab Kings break their six-match losing streak, as they successfully chased down the 197-run goal in only 18 overs. Shreyas Iyer starred with the bat, scoring his first IPL century with an unbeaten 101 runs off 51 deliveries.

“He Keeps Coming Back Stronger Even After Boundaries” – R Ashwin Lauds Arjun Tendulkar

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised Arjun Tendulkar following his impressive debut for LSG, applauding the teen’s determination and work ethic. Ashwin also acknowledged the challenges Arjun has faced, noting that comparisons together with his father, Sachin Tendulkar, were at all times unavoidable. Speaking in a YouTube video (via Hindustan Times), he said:

“I won’t speak about his skill. But his journey will not be easy because he’ll at all times be in comparison with his father. Nevertheless, I’ll say two things about him — he is amazingly hard-working and doesn’t back down from a contest. After bowling, he gives you a stare. Even in case you hit him for a 4 or six, he comes back harder. Those are two qualities you’ve got to present the child credit for.”

LSG endured a disappointing IPL 2026 season, ending at the underside of the standings after managing only 4 wins in 14 matches.
