UFC news: Dana White dismisses Conor McGregor return conspiracy: ‘Not a coincidence’

After several years of absence, MMA veteran Conor McGregor is ready to make his UFC return. Getting back from a suspension, McGregor is ready to fight Max Holloway on the upcoming UFC 329 on Jul. 11, 2026, at T-Mobile Arena.

UFC President Dana White announced McGregor’s return on May. 16, 2026 edition of UFC Fight Night, which happened to be the identical day as Ronda Rousey’s comeback fight for MVP [Most Valuable Promotions]. Speaking with Ariel Helwani recently, Nakisa Bidarian, Jake Paul’s partner and MVP co-founder, described the choice as confusing. Bidarian felt that saying the move during Francis Ngannou’s fight diverted attention away from McGregor.

While many on the web believed that saying McGregor’s return during Ngannou’s entrance was intentional, MVP co-founder Jake Paul also held similar thoughts. “That just shows how pressed they’re,” Paul said last week. “Little insecure boys attempting to piggyback off our event.” (via SportBible)

Talking to Fred Talks Fighting during an Adin Ross boxing and MMA event in Las Vegas, UFC President Dana White has now publicly dismissed such conspiracies. “Not a coincidence, I had a f***ing fight here that night,” White said. “Anybody who thinks that I gave a s**t what was occurring anywhere else is out of their f***ing minds… We announced it as soon as we got it done, and we were in the midst of our event.”

Nakisa Bidarian, also a co-founder of MVP, recently spoke with Ariel Helwani and stated his desire to sign Conor McGregor to MVP by offering a considerable pay increase. Although as of now, there aren’t any updates on McGregor jumping ship to MVP.
