A soccer legend who performed at multiple World Cup tournaments has thrown their weight behind GUNTHER ahead of WWE Clash In Italy 2026.
At this weekend’s pay-per-view event, GUNTHER will challenge Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, in GUNTHER’s first singles match for the title.
In an interview with Netflix Italia, GUNTHER was asked about his favorite Italian soccer player and named Roberto Baggio.
GUNTHER recalled watching Baggio in the course of the 1994 World Cup tournament because the time when he became a football fan.
Netflix Italia then shared that Baggia had a message for GUNTHER. He said,
“Hi GUNTHER, it’s Roby. I saw the images of you wearing my jersey during training. Thanks a lot, I actually appreciate it. I hope all of this brings you good luck for Clash in Italy, and naturally, your life typically. Big hug, see you soon, ciao!”
GUNTHER is a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, in addition to the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental and WWE NXT UK Champion.
