Shubman Gill guided his team to a powerful seven-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals within the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2. Batting first, RR posted 214/6 in 20 overs, on the back of a 96-run knock from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. In response, Gill smashed a superb hundred to assist GT chase down the goal with eight balls in hand. With this win, GT reached the IPL 2026 final, where they may play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday.
Throughout the post-match press conference, GT Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki said, “Yeah, it was exactly because it has been throughout the, the five years that he’s been an element of this group. He was preparing exactly as he has done before. As I form of said, he’s a beautiful talent. The very fact, I feel T20 cricket is a format that you have got to ride the, the form of indifferent times as much as much as work hard if you end up playing well. So, that’s a given thing. He’s played a lot cricket, he’s so experienced for anyone so young.”
“He knows how you can cope with all of those matters-success, failure. Skilled sport is about coping with exactly that. He was very measured when he arrived in our camp. His preparation has been on point, because it at all times is. No matter format, no matter whatever jersey he’s wearing, I’m pretty sure his preparation is on point. And that’s exactly how he arrived this 12 months,” he further added.
Nonetheless, Shubman Gill has scored 722 runs this season, scoring the majority of the runs for his side alongside opening partner Sai Sudharsan (710). Each are batting at a healthy strike rate of 160 as well.
