WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella was not in motion at Clash in Italy because of her ankle injury. She has been on the sidelines since WrestleMania 42, where a returning Paige replaced her to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Brie Bella.
In a recent episode of “The Nikki & Brie Show,” Nikki noted that she had pitched an idea of “Ciao Bella” segments for the Clash in Italy. The previous WWE Divas Champion said,
“I at first thought I used to be going to be at Clash in Italy, not obviously performing, but Reno’s — I pitched this incredible idea called Ciao Bella. I used to be like, hey guys, I might love to do that. Whether it’s pre-show, like once we used to do those fun promo business things for PLE, or simply make it social.”
“I had where I titled it Ciao Bella ’cause obviously Bella and being in Italy and Brie and I even have Italian, but where I’d have these different moments with WWE superstars. So like there can be a moment where I’m on just like the Italian scooter with Danhausen and his skirt and his scarf is like flying in my face.”
“Then it cuts to love having a moment with Brie and Paige and having Aperol Spritz with the tag team champions. After which I’d be on a gondola ride with Gunther and like he’s just staring straight being GUNTHER. And I’m like looking around like totally Emily in Paris. Like what’s happening. This one gave me the concept of like Emily in Rome, like me totally being like an Emily with WWE superstars.”
Did WWE Creative Like Nikki Bella’s Idea?
Moreover, Nikki Bella revealed that the WWE management liked her idea. Nevertheless, the plan ultimately never materialized. She continued,
“After which the gondolier is like, one other WWE superstar that’s either giving me the looks or he’s someone that hates GUNTHER. After which I even have this other moment where Oba (Femi) and I are getting gelato and trying to try a selfie with him, and clearly the peak difference. But then Judgement Day comes and slaps our gelato out of our hands. How dare they, how dare they?”
“And I had all these fun little segment ideas with all these WWE superstars that were very Italian and fun and gave you the Emily in Paris vibes because obviously you’ll watch Clash in Italy. It’s Netflix international. So I believed, oh my gosh, this could be all so fun.”
“And so they showed interest, like I used to be going back with the team and so they really liked the concept. Then I’m walking down the road, and so they keep going, Ciao Bella, Ciao Bella, ’cause they do this in Italy. After which I take a pause, and I’m going, ‘Oh my God, I’m like so famous here.’ But obviously it’s because they call everyone Bella, but I believe it’s oh because I’m Nikki Bella. So it was cute, and so they all loved it but then fell through, so which is simply too bad.”
