Haney has spent much of the past 12 months linked to a few of boxing’s biggest names, including Ryan Garcia, Brian Norman Jr., and, most recently, Shakur Stevenson, amid reports that Zuffa Boxing is targeting major fights for its roster.
Asked concerning the future and opportunities available to fighters through latest platforms entering the game, Haney pointed to the long-term goals he still has for his son.
“At 27, Devin continues to be developing himself. He’s still moving towards, you realize what I mean, the Mount Rushmore boxer. He’s still growing,” said Bill to MillCity Boxing.
Haney also shared a positive view of Zuffa’s arrival in boxing, suggesting additional platforms can only profit fighters seeking to construct their careers.
“It’s a platform that a fighter can go over, and that’s really like that, they usually are really listening to their coach, and their coach is basically taking a look at every thing. I mean, it’s a fantastic opportunity, man,” said Bill.
While critics proceed to debate Devin Haney’s place among the many sport’s elite, Bill believes his accomplishments have already secured a spot amongst boxing’s most completed fighters.
“Well, I mean it will must be difficult that once you discuss with other Hall of Fame fighters, they usually say that Devin is a Hall of Famer, they usually say that you simply’re not right. You never hear Hall of Fame together with his game,” said Bill.
“I feel once they realize and once they sit back, they would really like to have a profession that Devin has had.”
Haney’s comments come as Devin continues to weigh his next move in a loaded welterweight division, with several high-profile fights potentially available as boxing’s promotional landscape continues to evolve.
