Mercedes Mone Explains Her Recent AEW Absence

Mercedes Mone made her return to AEW television on the June 3 episode of Dynamite, entering the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament because the mystery Wild Card participant.

The looks marked Mone’s first AEW match since dropping the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale at AEW: Latest 12 months’s Smash and her first time back on AEW programming since January.

In the newest edition of her Mone Mag newsletter, Mone addressed her lengthy absence and make clear the explanations behind her time away from the corporate. She wrote,

“I’m back and I feel higher than ever.
Almost 6 months away. I’ve never had a break that long that wasn’t attributable to injury and after 16 years it was the primary time I got to actually calm down and haven’t any worries.
But one thing I noticed during that point away?
I missed wrestling a lot.
Especially that AEW.
While I used to be gone I saw all of the rumors.
“Oh she’s pregnant.”
“Oh contract issues.”
“Oh she’s leaving.”
“Oh this.”
“Oh that.”
Oh…
NOTHING.
Can I enjoy my vacation in peace?
Can a lady have a period and be bloated?
Can I enjoy my day without work without speculation and rumors?
One thing I also learned is there’s no person more impatient than wrestling fans.
Y’all are the style of individuals who look up the ending of a movie before ending it. You like not being surprised. You like not being present and fully within the moment since you’re so caught up within the fantasy.
But now the wait is over.”
