Tim Bradley Says No Promoter Can Match What Zuffa Could Pay Haney And Shakur

Tim Bradley believes the growing links between Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson and Zuffa Boxing have less to do with avoiding certain opponents and more to do with the extraordinary financial opportunities now available in the game.

Speculation surrounding Haney and Stevenson potentially joining Dana White’s boxing enterprise has intensified in recent weeks, with each fighters operating without long-term promotional commitments.

“Nobody’s going to give you the chance to pay them that kind of money. It doesn’t matter anywhere else they go, they’re not going to make that kind of money,” Bradley said on his YouTube channel.

“We will recall and return when PBC got established, they were overpaying fighters. Eddie Hearn’s with DAZN, they began overpaying fighters. Without delay, it’s the period without delay for these fighters, especially at the highest tier, in the event that they’re trying to make buku money, it’s the right opportunity now.”

“With that being said, that’s the explanation why I see Haney and likewise Shakur Stevenson signing on that dotted line,” Bradley said. “How they going to do it, that’s different. How they set their contract, that’s going to be different.”

“You simply make any such money once in a lifetime. This can be a perfect opportunity for each of those guys due to the kind of life-changing money that they’re going to be getting.”

Stevenson fulfilled his promotional obligations with Matchroom earlier this 12 months after previously departing Top Rank, leaving the WBC lightweight champion and not using a formal promoter. Haney, meanwhile, has largely handled his profession alongside his father, Bill Haney, following previous partnerships with each Matchroom and Top Rank.

Any move involving Haney could still be complicated by his position as WBO welterweight champion. The sanctioning body recently reaffirmed that his mandatory obligation against top contender Keyshawn Davis stays due next, despite discussions surrounding other potential bouts.
