Veteran batter Rohit Sharma became the oldest Indian player to feature in ODI cricket after taking the sphere in the primary match of the three-ODI series against Afghanistan national cricket team on Saturday, June 13, on the HPCA Stadium.
At 39 years and 44 days old, Rohit went past former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath, who previously held the record at 39 years and 36 days during his last ODI against the West Indies in October 1989 on the Wankhede Stadium.
Ahead of the continuing game, Rohit had scored 11,577 runs in 282 ODI appearances at a mean of 48.84 and a strike rate of 92.74. The opener has smashed 61 fifties and 33 centuries, together with his highest rating being 264 against Sri Lanka national cricket team.
