Blues’ Jordan Kyrou could waive no-trade clause to hitch Islanders

The longer term of Jordan Kyrou in St. Louis continues to generate speculation, and the Recent York Islanders are emerging as a team to look at for the star forward.

The 27-year-old has been considered one of the St. Louis Blues’ most efficient offensive players over the past several seasons, but multiple reports suggest trade discussions involving Kyrou have continued into the offseason as St. Louis evaluates its roster.

The Islanders have re-engaged in conversations with the Blues regarding the talented winger, in keeping with a recent report from The Hockey News’ Stefen Rosner.

“The three-time 30-goal scorer appears to be a player who may gain advantage from a change of scenery,” Rosner wrote.

“I’m told the Islanders are considered one of the teams which have re-engaged in trade talks, with conversations ongoing for a while now.”

The report also indicated that Recent York is just not the one club showing interest.

“I consider the Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Geese, and Seattle Kraken have spoken with St. Louis recently.”

Kyrou has developed into considered one of the league’s more dangerous offensive threats, recording three 30-goal seasons while using his elite skating ability to create consistent scoring probabilities. He did have a down season in 2025-26, managing just 46 points in 72 games.

He stays under contract through 2030-31 at a cap hit just over $8 million, and continues to be viewed as a player who could immediately upgrade the top-six of several teams across the league.

Kyrou possesses a no-trade clause, but that reportedly will not be an obstacle if Recent York emerges as a serious destination.

“It is also believed that Kyrou would waive his no-trade clause to hitch the Islanders, which is notable considering there was little indication he had any interest in moving in the course of the season,” Rosner added.

The Islanders have been looking for additional offensive firepower after one other disappointing campaign that saw the franchise miss out on the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Kyrou would immediately turn out to be some of the dynamic forwards on the roster. His speed and scoring ability would address a necessity that has existed for several years on Long Island — especially with Mat Barzal reportedly emerging as a trade candidate himself.

For the Blues, moving Kyrou would represent a major organizational decision, as he was drafted thirty fifth overall by the franchise back in 2016 and has spent his entire NHL profession in St. Louis.

Although he stays considered one of the team’s top offensive players as of now, a trade could allow St. Louis to reshape its roster and acquire assets that higher fit the long-term vision of the franchise.
