Danhausen is able to add one other accolade to his resume — NBA Champion.
While he never officially stepped onto the court, Danhausen has turn into a cult hero amongst Recent York Knicks fans in the course of the team’s run to its first NBA Championship since 1973. The self-proclaimed curse master inserted himself into the playoff story when he claimed to have cursed the Knicks during their first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, coinciding with Recent York falling behind 2-1.
After Game 3, Danhausen announced that he had lifted the curse, and the Knicks responded by winning 15 of their next 16 games on the approach to capturing the NBA title.
The wrestling star’s popularity grew throughout the postseason, as he made multiple appearances on ESPN broadcasts during each the playoffs and the NBA Finals.
Now, Danhausen wants his championship recognition. Taking to social media after the Knicks secured the title, he jokingly called for the organization to sign him to a ceremonial deal. He wrote,
“Danhausen is requesting a sooner or later contract with The KNICKSHAUSEN so he may retire from basketball’s as a champion of the world.”
