Dana White has shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding his latest heavyweight title fight.
Ciryl Gane TKO’d Alex Pereira inside two rounds to assert the interim belt at UFC Freedom 250 last weekend.
Since then, ‘Poatan’ has complained about being hit with illegal shots to the back of the pinnacle, demanded a direct rematch, and vowed never to let referee Herb Dean oversee any of his future fights.

Why Dana White empathizes with Alex Pereira
Dana White was recently asked concerning the fallout from Alex Pereira‘s failed bid to develop into the primary three-weight champion in history.
Herb Dean defended his officiating last week, however the UFC CEO thinks it’s obvious the veteran referee missed a number of illegal strikes on the White House event.
“When you watch the fight, it’s undeniable that [Pereira] got hit with some strikes to the back of the pinnacle,” White said during a post-fight UFC Vegas 119 press conference.
“But in the course of the motion, when it’s occurring, and guys are rolling around, attempting to get out of it, sometimes some fouls occur. Possibly Dean should’ve said, ‘Ay, watch the back of the pinnacle,’ or warned him.
“I can inform you this: Alex Pereira isn’t a whiner. Alex Pereira doesn’t complain about things or make excuses after fights. I actually have to consider that he believed that. That he truly believed that was true.”
Is it time for Herb Dean to retire from his referee role?
What’s next for Alex Pereira?
Alex Pereira is hoping the UFC will order a rematch with Ciryl Gane, who’s hoping to unify the division by facing heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall in Paris, France, this September.
Pereira has named the load he’ll compete at if the UFC refuses his request to run it back with ‘Bon Gamin’.
“I need heavyweight,” he said via a translator on The Ariel Helwani Show.
“I consider so,” Pereira added when asked if he’s going to complete his profession at heavyweight.
“Let’s see how things play out, but I consider so.
“Let’s see in a number of days once we refer to the UFC and see what they’ve for us.
“We plan to remain at heavyweight.”
