Bully Ray has been the source of drama attributable to comments about Jon Moxley and Josh Barnett, but did the WWE Hall of Famer have an ulterior motive?
After Bully Ray said he could easily beat up Moxley, his comments sparked a fiery response from Barnett, and the pair would verbally spar over social media.
More recently, Bully Ray and Joey Janela have been going at it on social media over a dangerous table spot from GCW Fight Club 2024.
During a recent edition of “Wrestling Observer Radio” podcast, nonetheless, Dave Meltzer claimed that Ray had a motive for selecting fights this week. He said,
“The entire thing, obviously, it was Bully attempting to get heat off Tommy Dreamer by creating a distinct controversy and that’s it. I believe Josh probably didn’t even know that and just thought that Bully was being a d*ck and challenged him to a fight… There’s no more evaluation that you’ll want to do. Just anyone on the lookout for attention.”
Bully Ray’s antics got here after multiple female wrestlers spoke up about Dreamer, recalling situations where the ECW alum had made them uncomfortable.
One wrestler (Perch) claimed that Dreamer said he’d do what he could so that they wouldn’t reach the skilled wrestling industry.
One other said that they’d felt pressured right into a spanking spot Dreamer insisted on that she felt she couldn’t say no to attributable to him being a veteran.
