Former India player praises Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s knock in 2026 tri-series final

Veteran cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has applauded Vaibhav Suryavanshi for taking part in a match-winning knock for India A within the tri-series final against Sri Lanka A. He added that the 15-year-old is virtually embarrassing his more experienced teammates.

Nonetheless, Suryavanshi smashed 94 runs off 29 balls as India A set Sri Lanka A a 378-run goal in Dambulla on Sunday, June 21. They then bowled out the house team for 311 to register an emphatic 66-run win as well.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “What is that this kid doing? He’s embarrassing everyone a bit of. He’ll make everyone feel a bit of insecure firstly, as to how he can play like this, because all of us are playing there only. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Priyansh Arya, and Tilak Varma were also there. It’s a really decent India A squad.”

“Nonetheless, when this kid starts hitting, it looks like he’s at a distinct level. He reached his fifty off 11 balls. He’s breaking List A records for fun, and that too in a final. He scored 94 in the ultimate here, 175 within the Under-19 World Cup final, and you may see the Eliminator against the SunRisers Hyderabad and the Qualifier 2 against the Gujarat Titans,” he added.

“If you’ve gotten to attain runs, stop competing with Vaibhav Suryavanshi” – Aakash Chopra

“As soon as you increase the pressure, this kid shines much more. Such high-risk players are barely 50-50 when the pressure increases since you realize that there isn’t a tomorrow should you make a mistake. Once that involves your mind, you alter your game a bit of and change into barely conservative at times, and even should you are usually not conservative, you don’t have full conviction in your shots. He is just not feeling the pressure of knockout matches in any respect,” Chopra explained.

Nonetheless, Aakash Chopra also advised Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s teammates to not compete with him in the event that they want to achieve success.

“For people fidgeting with him, a 15-year-old kid comes and starts hitting, and at times, you are feeling you may go shoulder to shoulder with him and hit like him. After some time, he makes you realize that it’s best to give up, as you can’t hit like him. If you’ve gotten to attain runs, stop competing with Vaibhav Suryavanshi. If you happen to are unable to compete with a 15-year-old kid, you doff your hat and say that this boy is incredible. The one flip side of that’s that he may be barely inconsistent, which was the case on this series. Nonetheless, the day he scores runs, he is sort of a shadow over everyone else,” Chopra concluded.
