On a recent edition of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay made a line about his recent marriage that caught loads of attention on social media. He said,
“I got wife, man. So here’s what I did to treat her — I took her upstairs, I smashed the life out of her, bruv. I said, ‘Babe, clean yourself up, I gotta’ go to Houston.’”
Some have criticized Ospreay for the road, including questioning whether his recent wife, Alex Windsor, approved of the comment to be aired globally.
Talking to “107.7 The Bone,” Ospreay was confused as to why fans who watch AEW have had such a difficulty with the road.
The English wrestler also suggested that when he said he ‘smashed the life’ out of Windsor, he meant he handily defeated her at Mario Kart. He said,
“I don’t know why everyone was so mad about it. That is the thing. I said she’s wife. I used to be explaining how amazing of an individual she is. She’s encouraged me to follow my dream. Then I said I took her upstairs and smashed the life out of her, at Mario Kart. Like, I beat her so bad at Mario Kart, and after I said to her, ‘Clean yourself up, love. I’m going to Houston,’ she was sweating, mate. She was sweating attempting to play this game. It’s 38 degrees over in England immediately. It’s so hot.
“I don’t get why everyone was so mad about it, I’ll be honest with you guys. People got indignant, and truthfully, I attract anger in every single place I’m going, but I can’t please all you guys. That is me. I’m authentically myself. I don’t mean any harm. I’m just being funny. Here’s the thing that I’ll all the time say about this. My boss didn’t care. Warner Bros. didn’t care. Paramount Pictures didn’t care. My wife didn’t care.
2So on that note, I politely disagree with all of you if you’ve gotten an issue with it. There are such a lot of other things happening on this planet that actually need our attention, our love and our care. Don’t come to me with mine and my wife’s relationship. F*ck off.”
Ospreay is the stepfather to Alex’s son Harry from her marriage to Ospreay’s late best friend Ryan Smile. Before Windsor, he dated Bea Priestley.
