Prime Video has revealed the solid of its German-language original series “Superior,” which is ready on this planet’s best hotel management school. Filming is underway in Bavaria and Switzerland.
The six-part drama, which mixes elite surroundings, stories of young love and a murder mystery, takes viewers behind the superbly orchestrated scenes of the posh hotel industry. But appearances are deceptive: behind the façade, dark secrets are lurking.
Franziska Margarete Hoenisch directs a solid of up-and-coming actors and actresses, led by Zoe Fürmann as Ricca, Jonathan Kriener as Joel, Kjell Brutscheidt as Maximilian, Lukas von Horbatschewsky as Tarek, Jule Hermann as Florence, and Manal Raga a Sabit as Amina, with cinematography by Julian Krubasik. The series also features Birgit Minichmayr, Benjamin Sadler, Merlin Rose, Peter Lohmeyer and Nick Romeo Reimann.
On the exclusive Swiss Hotel Academy Walding, life seems more beautiful, grander and more glamorous than anywhere else. Between champagne, white truffle, luxurious hotel suites, and the highs and lows of old flame, dreams feel nearby. But beneath the flawless surface, tensions are simmering: An explicit adult content account, forbidden affairs and a rivalry that spirals uncontrolled send shockwaves through the world of the elite.
Ricca, particularly, must protect her secret in any respect costs: to secure her scholarship, she falsified a vital detail on her résumé — and fellow student Joel threatens to uncover her dark past. Will he betray her — or can she trust him? Against all reason, Ricca falls in love with him. What she doesn’t yet realize is that Joel can also be deceiving everyone. It’s only a matter of time before all secrets come to light. With deadly consequences.
“Superior,” which is a working title, is produced by Swiss production company Zodiac Pictures in collaboration with MMC Zodiac. Jessica Hefti, Lukas Hobi and Reto Schaerli function executive producers, with Lennart Lenzing as producer. The scripts are written by head author Adrian Spring, who also created the series, together with Ruth Rehmet and John-Hendrik Karsten.
