Akanksha Chamola revealed through the premiere of Lock Upp season 2 that she is getting a divorce from Gaurav Khanna. The revelation shocked many, as she shared that this was the primary time she was making this update about their personal life. Within the third episode, Akanksha explained why she is heading for a divorce with inmates Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala.
Akanksha Chamola Reveals Why She And Gaurav Khanna Are Getting A Divorce
She said, “Jab hum shaadi mein thhe, mera maternal instinct kabhi nahi tha (Once we were married, I never had a maternal instinct). But I used to be open to discovering it, and it was never shut down. But regularly I realised that I’m not meant for it. And he was okay with it. But I suppose, in time, that shifted.”
She continued, “Now, he desires to have kids, and I can’t give him that. Nahi hein mere mein instinct, woh maine bohot pehle bol diya tha (I don’t have the instinct, I had told him long back). Jab mujhe realise ho gaya ki fundamental bani hi nahi hu iss chees ke liye, maine tabhi hi bol diya tha ki fundamental nahi karne waali hoon. So we had a discussion where I told him, if you wish to leave me, then leave me, fair enough.“
The actress added, “Log shaadi isliye karte hain, let’s be honest… 99% wish to get married because you wish to have kids and family aagey badhana hain, warna aap kyu shaadi karoge (Most individuals get married to have kids and to construct a family). He isn’t mistaken on his part. After which Bigg Boss happened, and I realised that isko bohot zyaada hain aur fundamental nahi kar paa rahi hoon (He wants it badly, and I’m unable to offer him that). For me, I don’t wish to put him in that situation.”
Akanksha Chamola On Her Divorce From Gaurav Khanna
Through the third day, Akanksha shared, “Humare liye secure hona easy nahi tha. Maine jo bohot bara secret reveal kiya hain na ma’am, woh life-changing secret hain. Aap sab ke liye bohot asaan hain bolna ki hum teeno ko aap save kar dete lekin usne (Harshad) jo secret reveal kiya hain… uska pata nahi but maine jo secret reveal kiya hain na… aap log jab bahaar jayenge tab pata chalega ki kya secret bola hain (It was hard for us to remain secure. I actually have revealed an enormous secret, and it is going to be life-changing. It’s very easy for all of you to say why not save us, but I don’t learn about him, for me, it was rather a lot. When all of you exit, you will notice what that secret was).”
She added, “Mere liye woh bohot devastating secret hain (It’s a devastating secret for me).” She then began crying and covered her face in front of the opposite contestants. Many others could possibly be seen comforting her. Earlier, Akanksha said, “Me and Gaurav are getting a divorce. We’ve been living individually for the last one 12 months and it’s not been public.”
She further explained, “Things will not be bad between me and Gaurav. We still check with one another. We don’t think we’re compatible as partners because we each see a really different future. And, unfortunately, it’s not with one another.”
Akanksha also mentioned that she doesn’t even wish to adopt a baby as she desires to be child-free in her life. Gaurav has not yet commented on this matter. He’s currently participating in Khatron Ke Khiladi 15.
About Their Relationship
Akanksha Chamola has appeared in popular television shows resembling Santoshi Maa, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, and Crime Patrol. She and Gaurav Khanna married in 2016 after dating for a while, reportedly meeting and falling in love during an audition. The couple tied the knot on November 24, 2016, in a lavish three-day wedding celebration held in Gaurav’s hometown, Kanpur.

During Bigg Boss, Gaurav was emotional after being accused of playing the sympathy card by discussing his wife’s decision to not have children. This incident happened last 12 months on Day 1 of the finale week when the finalists faced a troublesome media interaction. A reporter questioned Gaurav, saying that when he previously mentioned on the show that his wife didn’t want children, many viewers thought it was a calculated try and gain sympathy.
Responding emotionally, Gaurav defended his wife’s decision. He said that while he personally loves children and had wished to turn into a father after marriage, only a few men love their wives enough to sacrifice their very own heartfelt wishes. He added that it was a really sensitive issue for him. And he would at all times respect and stand by whatever his wife decided.
