Farid Basharat recently shared his response to the news that he’s now without an opponent for International Fight Week via a video on his YouTube channel.

He said that while he wishes Ewing one of the best and that this matchup was never personal, he doesn’t think his originally scheduled opponent would’ve succeeded if he had made it to the fight.

“To start with I would like the fans to know that I feel like Ethyn Ewing dodged a bullet,” Basharat stated. “Like I said, speedy recovery to him but as much because the fans loved him they usually were rooting for him, it wasn’t going to go well for him.

“July 11, once we did get within the cage, the fans were never going to assist him. The hype was never going to assist him. At the tip of the day, it was going to be him against me within the cage, locked for quarter-hour, and there was just one end result for that.”
