Jon Jones has critiqued the heavyweight debut of a person he’s been attempting to fight.
Former two-weight champion Alex Pereira jumped as much as face Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250 in June.
‘Poatan’ got stopped on his feet after taking a barrage of strikes from the French heavyweight in round 2.

Jon Jones questions Alex Pereira’s UFC Freedom 250 weight
Jon Jones believes Alex Pereira ‘got here in too big’ for his heavyweight debut on the White House.
At 251lbs, the Brazilian fan favorite outweighed profession heavyweight Ciryl Gane by 3lbs once they fought on June 14.
‘Bones’ insists Pereira should’ve given up size and focused on being the faster man within the Octagon.
“I feel like Pereira got here in too big,” Jones said during a recent interview with Red Corner MMA.
“I feel he would have been higher off fighting around 230lbs or 235lbs.
“Keeping that speed. I feel like his power would have possibly translated over.”
Jon Jones says hesitancy got Alex Pereira KO’d
Jon Jones went on to clarify what he believes led to Alex Pereira’s heavyweight debut defeat.
“Within the fight, you only saw him, he was waiting,” the UFC Hall of Famer added. “He was second-guessing things, he was questioning things, and that’s one among the worst things to do in a fight.
“It appears like a nightmare. Once you’re on the market in front of your opponent, and you recognize the moves, and you recognize that you need to throw that punch or throw that kick or go for that takedown, and you only don’t.
“You end up on the market watching as a substitute of doing. I’ve had it occur to me persistently in practice, and I felt like that’s what happened to Alex. He never really got his ball rolling.
“Ciryl Gane got here at him within the southpaw stance, which also I feel challenges Pereira. He was fast, he was powerful, he was unorthodox, and it was the right storm for Pereira, and he didn’t survive it.”
