Zabit Magomedsharipov’s eagerly anticipated comeback has been called off.

The previous MMA star hasn’t competed in any combat sport since beating Calvin Kattar at UFC Moscow in November 2019.

Three years later, Zabit Magomedsharipov retired from fighting as a consequence of repeated fight cancellations, broken guarantees from the UFC regarding title opportunities, and underlying health issues related to an autoimmune condition.

Zabit Magomedsharipov reacts to his comeback being postponed

Zabit Magomedsharipov has dropped hints a couple of comeback throughout the primary six months of 2026.

So, it wasn’t an enormous shock when the 35-year-old was booked in a grappling match by Absolute Championship BJJ.

Rising UFC star Raul Rosas Jr. was speculated to be his opponent in Moscow, Russia, on July 5.

On Thursday, it was announced that Magomedovsharipov will now not be competing on the event.

Raul Rosas Jr. will as a substitute face Khasan Magomedsharipov, Zabit’s brother, in a 70kg grappling match for the All Stars title on Sunday.

The retired MMA star posted a six-word statement referencing his withdrawal on Instagram.

“I’ll come to the tournament anyway,” Magomedsharipov wrote in Russian alongside the brand new event poster that features his brother and Rosas Jr.

Is Khasan Magomedsharipov an MMA fighter too?

At 25, Khasan Magomedsharipov is 10 years younger than his more famous older brother.

The 5ft 11 in featherweight is currently one of the vital exciting prospects on the PFL roster.

Khasan boasts an 11-0 record that has some people believing he’s actually higher than Zabit ever was.

The younger Magomedsharipov brother recently returned from a two-year layoff at PFL San Diego.

Khasan picked up a submission win over Joshua Weems (14-7) to proceed his perfect run in MMA.

Magomedsharipov will step out of his sibling’s shadow entirely with a win over Raul Rosas Jr. this weekend.
