Shawn Chan, the Canadian man arrested in May 2025 after traveling to the USA and allegedly stalking WWE star Liv Morgan at her Florida home, is believed to have been deported this week following his release into U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.
Last month, Chan was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the USA District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division. Court records indicated that following the decision, he was transferred to ICE custody with the intention of returning him to Canada. Until recently, Chan remained listed as being held at a Florida detention facility, but his name has since been faraway from the inmate roster, suggesting that he has now been deported.
Chan was charged with one count of interstate domestic violence after traveling from Scarborough, Ontario, to Orlando, Florida, on May 26, 2025 — the identical day he was issued a Canadian passport. In line with federal authorities, he told customs officers that he planned to remain on the WWE Performance Center, despite the ability having no residential accommodations.
4 days later, prosecutors said Chan drove several hours to Liv Morgan’s Florida residence, where he allegedly circled the property multiple times before entering through the backyard. Investigators said he attempted to access the front door but was unsuccessful. While waiting outside the house for several hours, he reportedly picked up an air pellet gun that was sitting on the front porch before abandoning a handwritten note and departing.
In line with the criminal criticism, the note included Chan’s name, Canadian address, and phone number. It also contained a lengthy message claiming he was “Shawn,” someone Morgan and others knew through a web based gaming platform. Within the note, Chan denied being a stalker, accused others of unfairly portraying him that way, and wrote that he had only come for “a friendly visit.” The letter concluded by stating that he wanted Morgan to know he had been on the property.
The FBI arrested Chan on June 3, 2025, after WWE security personnel reportedly recognized him from surveillance footage captured at Morgan’s home and alerted federal authorities. A federal grand jury indicted him on June 25, and he faced a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison if convicted.
Chan remained in custody throughout the case after multiple unsuccessful attempts to secure pretrial release. His legal team ultimately pursued an insanity defense, which resulted within the court finding him not guilty by reason of insanity somewhat than convicting him of the charge.
Court records later revealed that Chan expressed a desire to return to Canada, resulting in his transfer to ICE custody following the decision. Together with his name not appearing in federal detention records, it’s widely believed that he has now been faraway from the USA.
As of this writing, Liv Morgan has not publicly commented on the court’s verdict or Chan’s apparent deportation.
