Dylan Larkin Adds a Team, the Penguins like Jason Robertson, and the Geese Must Move Salary

Dylan Larkin adds one team to his trade list

Ansar Khan of MLive: Dylan Larkin‘s list of teams he’d be willing to go to has been the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights. Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman didn’t like what they’d to supply and has been hoping for an expanded list.

Sources say Larkin did expand the list, but only added one team, the Dallas Stars. A source said that Red Wings asked the Stars for center Wyatt Johnston.

The Pittsburgh Penguins wouldn’t mind landing Jason Robertson

Josh Yohe of The Athletic: The Pittsburgh Penguins are still open to the thought of trading for Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson, who’ve already acquired his brother, Nick.

NHL Rumors: Minnesota Wild, and the Pittsburgh Penguins

A Penguins source said that Robertson would really like a long-term take care of the Stars, and that Penguins what to to the Stars about Robertson, but they’re not that interested in the intervening time. Robertson filed for salary arbitration.

The Penguins proceed to search for “good but low-cost” capable NHL players.

Defenseman Ryan Shea didn’t get a serious offer from the Penguins before free agency opened, and he signed a five-year, $20 million take care of the Oilers. A source said that Shea was surprised the Penguins weren’t fascinated with re-signing him.

The Anaheim Geese might want to move some salary

Eric Stephens of The Athletic: The Anaheim Geese match the Leo Carlsson offer sheet, they usually’ll have just below $10 million to re-sign 22-year-old forward Cutter Gauthier. The Geese won’t have the option to get Gauthier signed at under $10 million. GM Pat Verbeek could resolve to play hardball with Gauthier, but we know the way that strategy has worked prior to now for them.

NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens, Bryan Rust and Kirby Dach

Verbeek not signing Carlsson before he was offer sheeted is causing a headache now. It could have all been avoided.

The Geese now must move out salary to have the option to re-sign Gauthier. Frank Vatrano has a two years left at a $4.57 million cap hit, along together with his deferred money, is one trade option. Is probably not easily done. Chris Kreider ($6.5 million) and Alex Killorn ($6.25 million) have 15-team no-trade clauses, and don’t think the Geese wish to move the veterans.

E.J. Hradek: “I think they’ll move a number of of Chris Krieder (1 yr, $6.5M), Alex Killorn (1 yr, 6.25M) and/or Frank Vetrano (2 yr, $4.57M) to create more room. May need to connect a draft pick to any deal. Lesson: Deal with your small business ASAP! This didn’t must go this fashion.”
