The Irishman has confirmed he’ll undergo surgery before returning for his final fight.
After five years of anticipation, Conor McGregor returned to the Octagon this past Saturday at UFC 329 when he took on Max Holloway in a rematch 13 years within the making.
Unfortunately for the Irishman, his return ended disastrously when he suffered a knee injury within the opening seconds of the fight which rendered him unable to proceed as Holloway went on to choose up the win.
Despite doubts that he’ll ever return to the UFC again, the 37-year-old stays adamant that he’ll step into the Octagon over again.

McGregor confirms he’ll undergo surgery for injured knee in latest update
Almost immediately after the fight, ‘The Notorious’ broke his silence with a post online, shutting down claims that he went into the fight injured.
Not only that, but he claimed that he was in a particularly dark place after suffering yet one more catastrophic injury, but that wasn’t going to stop him from returning again.
And now just a couple of days faraway from UFC 329, the previous UFC double champion has provided fans with one other update, confirming that he’ll undergo surgery on his injured knee before returning for the ultimate fight on his UFC contract.
“My faith is unconditional and I’m thankful I get to prove it! My lifestyle changes are everlasting and not only until. I’m thankful I get to prove it. I’m in sin city and remain completely devoid of all sin. I won’t open that door nor crack its seal! I’m already back to collecting wins! In Jesus name I pray,” McGregor began his statement on Instagram.
“Church was intense today, my heart is heavy but through Christ my mind is STRONG! I’m so grateful to see my family fall more in love with God every day!
I’m not a victim of my circumstances, I overcome them. God is at work in me to will and to work his good pleasure! My youth is being renewed just like the eagles! In Jesus I’m thoroughly loved, cherished, adored. I walk in divine health. I live under supernatural protection. All things work out for my good! All things are possible for me because I’m a believer!
Surgery. Prehab. Return to martial arts practice. Go again. Final fight of the contract. Please God! I trust in You Lord! Show me Your way. Thank You God.”

Following the fight, ‘Blessed’ Holloway stated that he would love to take a seat out and wait for the Irishman to return in order that they’ll settle their rivalry with a trilogy.
First, though, McGregor will undergo surgery and only time will tell how well his recovery will go and whether he’ll find a way to return for one last dance.
