The Rock’s live-action Moana (2026) film has tanked on the box office. This has led to speculations that The Final Boss may return to WWE ahead of SummerSlam 2026.
During a recent episode of his “Story Time with Dutch Mantell” podcast, Dutch Mantell claimed that The Rock doesn’t wish to return to WWE. The veteran said,
“I feel in the event that they did bring him (The Rock) back for like a 12 months or 12 months and a half. But he’s making a lot money now, I don’t think he desires to do it (I feel he loves acting greater than wrestling). Yeah, I feel he does too. I feel if he got here back to wrestling, he’d be an enormous success. Because you tell me he’s 54, that bell is ringing for him within the acting profession too. He cannot. He’s made some movies that were big box office hits, and he’s had plenty of sellouts in WWE.”
Will The Rock Purchase WWE?
During a recent interview with Pwmania, Mark Henry was asked whether The Final Boss will take ownership of WWE. The Hall of Famer said,
“I feel that it could be awesome. To see a wrestler that we shared the locker room with be one in all the heads, if not the pinnacle, of the ownership group that owns a professional wrestling company can be amazing.”
“But that also can be saying that you just don’t like TKO running it, that you just don’t want no one else to run it, that you just want The Rock to run it and I don’t know if that’s feasible. Pretty much as good as The Rock is as a talent, it doesn’t make him the very best coach. Take a look at Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird – three of the very best NBA basketball players of all time.”
“All of them had losing records as coaches. Once you step into a distinct role, you will need to have a certain temperament and expectation for the talent and where you wish that talent to go, versus, ‘Hey, The Rock did it, do higher than him’. That just doesn’t make sense.”
