Dillon Danis has told fighters they mustn’t be making fun of Conor McGregor after his comeback defeat on Saturday night.

For over a decade, Danis has been close friends with McGregor after the pair linked up to arrange for his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202. They’ve remained tight through each men’s strings of controversies and legal issues, and even now they don’t train together.

After drawing a record gate for the UFC together with his comeback fight, Conor McGregor was only capable of deliver a farcical 69 seconds as he suffered an injury to his right leg within the opening exchange. Max Holloway scored the victory, although many were furious.

Fighters and fans alike mocked the Irishman, but Dillon Danis thinks that such a response is brief sighted, writing on X: “You’re all a bunch of f—ing bums hating on my brother’s name, especially fighters.

“Without Conor McGregor, everyone in MMA would still be making 10K fighting on Spike TV. He modified the sport without end. Watching him fight through things people don’t come back from inspires me to maintain facing my very own demons.

“He didn’t need to go for it, but he still did for the love of the sport. That’s what separates him. An actual motherf—ing G. No person knows the actual man. He taught me the sport, taught me about life, and so rather more than I could ever put into words.

“He taught me the way to consider in myself, think greater, trust my instincts, keep going when the entire world doubts you, and never settle. I’ll all the time be glad about every little thing he’s taught me and every little thing he continues to show me. My brother for all times.

“In the event you hate on that, you’ll never achieve greatness. At all times up. The legend. The most effective ever to do it. McGregor without end.”
