Fans worry for Kamaru Usman as first face-off with Dricus du Plessis shows drastic size difference

Kamaru Usman can have to beat a notable drawback on fight night.

The previous UFC welterweight champion is returning to middleweight for his first appearance contained in the Octagon in 2026.

After beating Joaquin Buckley at 170 kilos, Usman had hoped to challenge Islam Makhachev. The promotion had other plans and as an alternative booked him to headline UFC Oklahoma City against Dricus du Plessis.

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ lost his middleweight debut in 2023, and plenty of expect him to fall to 0-2 in the load class after seeing a recent fight week face-off.

Usman narrowly lost to Khamzat Chimaev through the Chechen’s rise to becoming UFC middleweight champion.

Many consider had he had five rounds to work, the 39-year-old had a probability of becoming the primary man to defeat ‘Borz’ in mixed martial arts.

Usman can have 25 minutes to get the job done on July 18 on the Paycom Center, during which he might want to overcome a major size difference.

Du Plessis’ superior frame was on display when the pair faced off for the very first time ahead of the UFC Oklahoma City fundamental event this Saturday.

The South African, who’s returning for the primary time since losing the title to Chimaev last August, stood tall over the welterweight legend.
