AEW President Tony Khan has addressed recent speculation surrounding Sammy Guevara’s status with the corporate.
Questions on Guevara’s future began circulating after fans noticed that “AEW” had been faraway from his social media bio, leading some to wonder if the previous TNT Champion was now not with the promotion.
Through the media call for AEW Redemption 2026, Khan dismissed the rumors, saying that there was no cause for concern. In line with Khan, he doesn’t imagine Guevara ever listed AEW in his bio to start with.
Khan also revealed that he recently received a form message from Guevara and used the chance to defend the three-time TNT Champion from criticism he has faced online, making it clear that he continues to support the longtime AEW star despite the speculation. He said,
“Sammy (Guevara), I assumed it was unusual that individuals said there was a change in Sammy’s status because nothing has modified. Sammy’s done well. He’s wrestling in Ring of Honor more often. He’s done some good things in AEW and he’s one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions — had appeared in AEW with L.F.I… As I understand it, when Sammy modified his bio, I don’t think Sammy ever had AEW within the bio in the primary place so I don’t think it was any negative change and I got a pleasant message from Sammy saying he wasn’t attempting to do anything bad and he loves AEW, and I imagine that, and Sammy has been a very good wrestler for us in AEW and ROH. He’s an ideal talent and a excellent person, so I don’t think he meant to do anything, and it gave the look of people jumped on him for something he didn’t even do. Actually just messing around with the Twitter bio. It’s pretty amazing how people would jump to conclusions but in addition jump on him, and in my view, on this case, probably unfairly…”
