AEW Talent – ‘I Think Steroids Can Be A Big, Big Profit’

WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator Jim Ross recently looked back on one of the controversial moments of Hulk Hogan’s profession, saying that Hogan’s infamous denial of steroid use on national television ultimately hurt each his own credibility and the skilled wrestling industry.

Speaking on a recent edition of his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross discussed Hogan’s 1991 appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show, where the wrestling icon denied using anabolic steroids. Hogan would later admit under oath during Vince McMahon’s 1994 federal steroid trial that his statement on the talk show was false.

Ross said he had little doubt on the time that Hogan was being dishonest. He said,

“I knew he was lying. And I knew he was lying, Conrad. God rattling it. You don’t seem like he looked without having some help, some enhancement.”

“That basically hurt him and hurt the business, ’cause if the largest star within the business goes to lie about something, then what’s to maintain the remaining of the blokes, the remaining of the roster, from lying about things?”

“There was a whole lot of things just didn’t occur well, well-timed back in those days.”

“I’ve never understood the large issue on steroids.”

“In the event that they were proven that they destroyed your body they usually kill you, then I get it, but that’s probably not the case, for my part. I is likely to be mistaken, I believe much an excessive amount of is made from steroids. And should you use them under a physician’s care, and also you’re attempting to ensure that you’re staying healthy.”

“I’m not a steroid hater. I believe should you stay on it the proper way, it may make it easier to survive injuries and heal faster. So, that’s just my opinion. And it will not be well worth the sh**.”

“It [the trial] was negative all the best way around. No person won on that big lie. No person won.”

“It was a failure to speak… What we’ve here’s a failure to speak, and that’s what we had.”

“I believe steroids generally is a big, big profit in the event that they’re utilized appropriately… I is likely to be mistaken, but that is sensible to me.”
