God of War Laufey has a release date, and it’s February 16, 2027, announced today in the course of the game’s San Diego Comic-Con panel and confirmed by Santa Monica Studio on X shortly after. The date caps off weeks of narrowing timelines, for the reason that studio’s disc confirmation earlier this month had already locked the sport in ahead of Sony’s January 2028 physical media cutoff.
The date also drops Laufey into what’s shaping as much as be a brutally crowded month. Fable, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and Persona 4 Revival are all currently slated for February 2027, as publishers cluster their releases early within the 12 months to maintain clear of Grand Theft Auto 6’s November 2026 orbit. Laufey now headlines that pileup as PlayStation’s first major first-party release of the 12 months.
The panel had yet one more reveal in it, too. Santa Monica Studio confirmed that one other Kratos-led God of War game is within the works, with head of creative Cory Barlog saying it would hook up with Laufey and release after it. That’s the extent of what was shared, with no studio, window, or scale attached, though it formalizes what Barlog has been hinting at for the reason that reveal, when he said the team will at all times tell stories about Kratos and framed Laufey as an expansion of the series slightly than a departure.
For anyone catching up, Laufey follows Faye, the warrior and wife of Kratos played by Deborah Ann Woll, who awakens after her funeral within the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods, and fights to guard the plans she left behind for Kratos and Atreus. We covered the total reveal when it closed out June’s State of Play with 20 minutes of gameplay. God of War Laufey arrives on PlayStation 5, on disc, in just below seven months.
