The Staar & D’Amico Show: The Montreal Canadiens really only have futures to supply in the event that they’re looking to accumulate a roster player. Marco D’Amico talks concerning the gap the Canadiens have between their core players and their next wave. They’ve a history of constructing an enormous move when nobody expects it.

Starr: “I mean, if you happen to’re coping with the Montreal Canadiens. Are the Canadians no more well positioned when it comes to their roster strategy, of well, if we wish one in all your NHL players, the perfect we are able to sort of do are our futures, and, and whether it’s a (Michael) Hage or a (Alexander) Zharovsky or a (Jacob) Fowler or whatever, no?”
D’Amico: “The difficulty is how soon can these guys get to the NHL.”

Starr: “Right.”
D’Amico: “And I feel like we talked about this: the Canadians’ prospect pool and the Canadians’ core. The core evolved faster than the pool, the second wave of that prospect pool was able to, to make its way into the NHL. I feel they, you already know, they’re a 12 months ahead of where they were alleged to be, and unfortunately the prospects aren’t.
And so which means you already know, would a full season within the NHL make David Reinbacher a sexy piece? You bet your bottom dollar. Does seeing Michael Hage play within the NHL make him a more beneficial asset? I feel so. Does Zharovsky coming over from Russia make him a more beneficial asset? Absolutely.
But does that also make other players which are playing within the NHL more expendable, like an Alex Newhook? Like, you already know, we talked about Kirby Dach, like, if he comes back to form. Alex Texier, you already know, Oliver Kapanen. That’s what I’m talking about.
Where it’s NHL-ready pieces with upside. That’s what teams are in search of. And without delay, the Canadians don’t have a loads of them. And the teams that do have those sorts of big-name fish that the Canadians are taking a look at aren’t in a rush to trade them without delay.
But I’ll say one thing.”
Starr: “Yeah.”

D’Amico: “The Canadians have made a nasty habit, which has are available my detriment, by the way in which, because they did this twice on my honeymoon. But they’ve a nasty habit of constructing these trades that nobody sees coming. In, in August, they’ve a nasty, nasty habit, or the start of September, as we saw with Carey Price.”
