She also stressed the necessity for each immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation efforts. She wrote, “Straight away, floods are affecting so many parts of our country with Assam being among the many hardest hit, facing an incredibly difficult time. Greater than 60 lives have been lost. Lakhs of individuals have been displaced. Entire families have lost their homes, their land, their livestock… and for some, even the people they love. It happens yearly and it still catches us off guard.”
The actress further revealed that she could be using her platform to share details about organizations involved in relief work on the bottom and encouraged people to contribute in whatever way they might. The note also added, “Assam needs immediate relief immediately, and it will need support for the long road to recovery. When you’ve been wondering the way you might help, I will be sharing a number of ways we are able to support relief efforts over the following few days, through organisations working on the bottom. #CircleOfHope.”
