NHL Rumors: Will Mike Sullivan Pay the Price In Pittsburgh?

Scott Laughlin: And we’ll start with the primary coaching casualty of the season Friedge. Big news yesterday afternoon within the undeniable fact that the Bruins parted ways with Jim Montgomery. And in some ways, it’s surprising, given his winning percentage. In other ways, perhaps not so surprising. So, out of your vantage point, and from what you understand and from what you’ve been able to analyze, where did things go mistaken between Montgomery and the Bs?

Elliotte Friedman: That’s an amazing query. I feel all of it went mistaken this yr. You already know,  I don’t think too many individuals were taking a look at a situation where people thought that this might be, that this might even be a consideration or a comment, and as a matter of fact, I do consider at one point, I don’t understand how deep they got, I get different responses to this, but they were definitely talking about an extension. Like  there was a likelihood that he was going to find yourself staying.

After which I actually thought Cam Neely did an interview with the Boston Globe last weekend where he principally said the whole lot has been unsettled since training camp. And I feel that’s true. I feel between (Jeremy) Swayman’s contract situation and (Brad) Marchand’s injuries, it just didn’t get off to an amazing start.

NHL Rumors: Greater Hot Seat, Jim Montgomery or Mike Sullivan?

And there have been some times Scotty like that double shut out weekend a pair weeks ago, where all of us thought it was going to be okay, they usually sorted out. And it just never got there. And I feel that (Elias Lindholm) and (Nikita) Zadorov haven’t been an amazing fit. I’m wondering if among the contract stuff has taken its toll on the room.

And each team is due for a drop, right? It’s like no person stays good for 20 straight years, and the Bruins have been good for a very long time in a row. And I just wonder if it’s finally their turn.

NHLRumors.com Note: If General Manager Don Sweeney wanted to increase Jim Montgomery, he probably would have already. The undeniable fact that he left him as a lame-duck head coach meant the organization was desirous about making a training change.

It’s a results-oriented business. Montgomery didn’t get it done within the playoffs. The beginning of the season added to the dysfunction in Boston, and there have been rumblings entering the season that he was in the recent seat.
