Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has insisted Jadon Sancho will ‘help us lots’ this season – but has told the forward he must stay fit.
The on-loan winger arrange each goals in his side’s 2-0 win away to Heidenheim within the Europa Conference League on Thursday.
Sancho began the match and played the total 90 minutes as he stepped up his return to motion.
The 24-year-old had not been named in a starting line-up for the reason that loss to Liverpool on October 20.
Meanwhile, his five-minute cameo against Leicester on Saturday was his first appearance for six matches.
Maresca has now explained what Sancho must do to develop into an everyday starter for the Blues.
The Italian remarked: “I said since we began, Jadon could be very necessary for us.
“He must be fit, mentally and physically and he’s going to assist us lots.
“Unfortunately we didn’t use him in the previous few games.
“But he’s showing tonight how necessary he’s.
“We want that quality within the last third against a low block. He’s going to assist us lots.”
Sancho provided assists for each Christopher Nkunku and Mykhaylo Mudryk as Chelsea maintained their perfect start in Europe’s third-tier competition.
The Blues have won each of their first 4 matches to guarantee at the least a play-off place with two fixtures remaining.
As for Sancho, he now has five assists in only seven appearances for Chelsea since signing on loan from Manchester United on deadline day.
He’ll hope to maintain his place within the side for the visit of Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
And his display against Heidenheim caught the attention of ex-Tottenham centre-forward Peter Crouch, who believes he’s showing his quality with every game he plays.
The previous England striker told TNT Sports: “He was involved in lots. He’s got such quick feet, creativity.
“When he’s confident, he’s nearly as good as anyone and seems to at all times pick the proper pass.
“He’s getting up to the mark, but when he’s fit and playing well, that is what he can do.”
As for Chelsea icon Joe Cole, he added: “Sancho was improbable again.”
