Manchester City have been the largest spenders throughout the winter transfer window, forking out over £180m on five recent signings.

The struggling Premier League champions have made significant moves to try to boost their ailing campaign with a quintet of latest arrivals.

Omar Marmoush (£59m), Abdukodir Khusanov (£33.5m), Vitor Reis (£29.6m) and Claudio Echeverri (£12.5m) had all been brought in earlier within the transfer window, with Nico Gonzalez now joining late on deadline day.

The midfielder joins City from Porto in a £50m deal, signing a four-and-a-half-year on the Etihad.

Transfermarkt report that only Chelsea in 2023 spent more within the January window than Manchester City have this yr.

The previous Barcelona man, who’s capped for Spain Under-21s, said: ‘That is the proper opportunity for me at this stage of my profession.

‘I’m 23 and I would like to check myself in England. There’s no higher club than Manchester City for me to try this.

‘Have a look at the squad they’ve here. It’s unbelievable, filled with world-class players. There isn’t a footballer on the earth who wouldn’t need to be a part of this set-up.

‘I do know the popularity Pep has and I cannot wait to work with him. In actual fact, I’m honoured he wants me to play in his team.

‘I’m truly excited. I just want to fulfill my teammates, and the staff here after which I would like to play in front of the City fans!’

Gonzalez has been brought in to fill the void left by the injured Rodri and director of football Txiki Begiristain is thrilled by the signing.
