Morgan Rogers has talked up the arrival of Marcus Rashford at Aston Villa, hoping to ’cause some damage’ alongside the on-loan Manchester United man.
The England international has moved to Villa Park on loan until the tip of the season after falling out of favour at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim.
The 27-year-old was completely frozen out by the Portuguese boss and hasn’t played since 12 December within the Europa League against Viktoria Plzen.
Rashford has probably not been in good form since his impressive 2022/23 season and the Red Devils have chosen to ship him out on loan.
Villa have taken a raffle on him and Rogers thinks it’s a worthwhile one, looking as much as Rashford as he made his way in the sport.
The 22-year-old will hope his words come as a lift of confidence to the struggling forward, as he talks up the partnership they’ll create at Villa.
‘His talent and quality, everyone’s seen it for quite a lot of years now. To have the option to play with him is something I’m thoroughly looking forward to,’ Rogers told Sky Sports.
‘Once I was coming up, he was beginning to be the guy in England and he’s someone I looked as much as as a player in the same position that you should try to be at some point.
‘Hopefully we may cause some damage on the pitch and get Villa where we would like to get them.’
Rashford could make his debut for Villa on Sunday within the FA Cup as he didn’t appear for Manchester United within the competition before making his move.
He will not be at full match fitness as a consequence of lack of game time, but he’s raring to go and play for a club apart from Manchester United for the primary time in his profession.
‘It’s an ambitious time for this club and an awesome opportunity for me to affix the team and help them keep pushing forward. I’m excited, can’t wait for the primary training session and clearly the primary game,’ he said.
‘(Unai Emery is) a top manager and what he’s done on the club since he’s come to Villa is unbelievable. It’s the constant ambition that’s attractive, and it’s why you should join such a club. You desire to keep improving 12 months on 12 months, and that’s what the team has been doing and are doing this 12 months.’
