Def Jam Records paid tribute to Gotti in an Instagram statement on February 6, 2025, extending their condolences to his inner circle.

Who Was Irv Gotti?
Gotti (whose real name was Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr.) co-founded the record label Murder Inc. Records, an imprint of the label Def Jam Recordings, together with his brother, Chris Gotti. Gotti made a long-lasting impression on the hip-hop genre of the music industry, having worked with Ja Rule, Ashanti, DMX and more artists.
Throughout his music profession, Gotti also went by the name DJ Irv and produced multiple songs. He received credits for working with artists, comparable to Jay-Z, Kanye “Ye” West and Jennifer Lopez.
What Happened to Irv Gotti?
Gotti’s reason for death isn’t known, but THR reported that he suffered from strokes in his final years. Moreover, he lived with diabetes-related issues, based on the outlet.
Shortly before news of Gotti’s death broke, AllHipHop‘s Kyle Eustice claimed the deceased music producer suffered a stroke that resulted in a brain bleed, based on WBLS. Record executive Russell Simmons shared an Instagram message sooner or later before Gotti’s death was reported. The post claimed that Gotti was placed on life support.
“Praying for Irvs full recovery,” Simmons captioned his post. “Such a fun inspired good hearted person such a beloved person people sustain the prayers. To the people my age and younger we’re seeing the results of toxic food and a toxic environment pray for our brother and check out to make the vital changes in your and your [families] diets and lifestyles [sic].”
