Trick Williams Compares WWE NXT To College

“WWE NXT’s” Trick Williams is certainly one of many wrestlers who transitioned from football into pro wrestling, and he has drawn parallels between “NXT” and studying in school.

Williams, certainly one of the most well liked rising stars in WWE’s developmental brand, has quickly risen to the highest of the brand over the past 12 months. He recently appeared on “Tailgate Talks with DiMarco and Garcia” podcast, where he explained why “NXT” is like being in college.

“‘NXT,’ where I’m at now — which I have been here for three-and-a-half years — it appears like I did college all another time. It’s quite a bit more comparable to the collegiate experience, where it’s top-of-the-line facilities, where you are getting coached by a few of the most effective, where versus ‘Raw’ and ‘SmackDown,’ that’s more like NFL, where you are a professional. We’re not going to inform you five times to, , do that and do this, unless you are the big-money guy. But, you hold yourself accountable. Should you miss meetings, you are going to get your pay deducted or we kick you out. ‘Raw’ and ‘SmackDown’ is quite a bit more cutthroat,” Williams said.

He detailed his hectic weekly schedule in “NXT,” which incorporates in-ring training, watching wrestling movies to research and learn, filming the weekly television show, understanding, and wrestling at live events. He revealed that the “NXT” stars work six days per week, with Sunday being the one rest day.

Williams also spoke about potentially being called as much as the major roster, stating that he should get the call-up soon to either “Raw” or “SmackDown.” “I feel it [a call-up] must be soon,” said the previous NXT Champion.

The 30-year-old star also expressed gratitude for his skilled wrestling profession, stating that it has exceeded his expectations tenfold in comparison with what he had hoped for in football.
