MANILA, Philippines — Goyang Sono import Chinanu Onuaku was slapped with a 3 million won (Php 128,300) high-quality after his foul that led to Anyang star Rhenz Abando’s ba fall was ruled out intentional by the Korean Basketball League (KBL) upon review.
In response to South Korea’s media outlet, Jumpball, the KBL sanctioned Onuaku and warned referees Lee Seung-moo, Kim Baek-gyu, and Lee Ji-yeon, who ruled Goyang import’s motion as non-intentional contact throughout the game.
Onuaku was spared from game suspensions.
Abando is about to miss not less than a month after affected by a fracture on his third and fourth lumbar vertebrae, a sprained wrist, and a concussion in Anyang’s 85-81 loss to Goyang Sono on Thursday.
The Gilas Pilipinas rising star fell awkwardly to the ground after he collided with Onuaku midair when he attempted a putback midway through the second quarter.
Anyang officials expressed their dismay over the initial non-intentional call on Onuaku’s foul before the KBL reviewed the play.
