MANILA, Philippines—Not only did Jeremy Lin play within the Philippines for a second time, but he also got to share a special moment with a former teammate in Rondae Hollis-Jefferson on Wednesday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
After leading the Latest Taipei Kings over the Meralco Bolts within the East Asia Super League (EASL), Lin and Hollis-Jefferson exchanged laughs at center court.
“He’s like a bit brother to me,” said Lin after ending with 23 points and 10 rebounds within the 89-77 victory.
“Through my nine years within the NBA, he’s at all times considered one of my closest friends.”
Lin and Hollis-Jefferson, who’s in contract with TNT Tropang Giga, were teammates for 2 seasons in Brooklyn within the NBA.
The 35-year-old guard said he appreciated the gesture shown by Hollis-Jefferson to still come to the sport although it was his birthday and will’ve celebrated within the comforts of his home.
Yet, Hollis-Jefferson arrived within the second quarter with a smile on his face, able to cheer on Lin.
“Today is his birthday. For him to come back out here today and produce his brother and family out today speaks volumes,” Lin said.
“He’s just an important guy and he’s killing it out here and doing an important job. I do know he’s having quite a lot of fun [here] and I appreciate his support for the Kings.”
