Throughout the 2024 Tokyo Fan Fest Keynote, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed that the feminine Hrothgar can be the ultimate playable race added to the critically acclaimed MMORPG. Though they are going to not arrive until the launch of the Dawntrail expansion, Final Fantasy 14 players will soon meet a female Hrothgar character within the upcoming Patch 6.55.

The 2024 Tokyo Fan Fest Keynote began with the complete trailer for Dawntrail, which revealed the Pictomancer as Final Fantasy 14‘s upcoming Caster DPS Job. Wielding a magical paintbrush and palette, the lalafell character Krile Baldesion was chosen to wield the brand new Job’s powers within the trailer. While no release date was given for Dawntrail‘s release, Yoshida stated that the discharge window of summer 2024 was still accurate, and said that an internal release date was their goal. But, FF14 players can have to attend just slightly longer to get more details on after they can explore the Recent World of Tural and take up the mantle of the Viper and the Pictomancer.

Nevertheless, at the tip of the trailer, the last playable race for Final Fantasy 14 got here into clear view. Initially teased through the end of Patch 6.5, Growing Light, a female Hrothgar was shown on screen. Often called the daughter of Tural’s current ruler, the leonine warrior will appear in Patch 6.55, which can launch on Tuesday, January 16. She’s going to request assistance from the Warrior of Light and their companions in a rite of succession to find out the following leader of Tural. Throughout the final keynote segment, Yoshida and Final Fantasy 14 localization lead Kate Cwynar revealed a trailer that showed how the feminine Hrothgar would look in-game, using the updated graphics of Dawntrail.

Like their male counterparts, the feminine Hrothgar are from the Ilsabard continent and have claimed territory in Bozja and neighboring nations. Despite their small population, the feminine Hrothgar have a natural disposition to leadership and have sleek, muscular forms. In comparison with the male Hrothgar, the females don’t have hunched backs, but their height range stays unknown. Though the Hrothgar and the Viera have longstanding issues with visible headgear, Yoshida said that it was one in all the features being addressed during and after Dawntrail. Yoshida reiterated that the feminine Hrothgar can be the sport’s final race, but left the door open for Final Fantasy 14 players to make future suggestions.

Reception to the feminine Hrothgar was positive amongst players, with some claiming they’re exactly as they imagined. Though 2023 was a great 12 months for Final Fantasy 14, the reveal of the feminine Hrothgar for Dawntrail ensured a quick begin to 2024 for Square Enix.
