Mortal Kombat 1’s next Kameo fighter, the ninja-like warrior Khameleon, is finally coming to the sport later this month. One in every of the largest mechanics introduced in Mortal Kombat 1 is Kameo fighters, supporting characters that players can select from a secondary menu to help them in battles. While these Kameos can’t be controlled directly, the player can call upon them with a button press to attack their opponent, opening the door for brand new combo moves and devastating Kameo Fatalities and Brutalities.
Mortal Kombat 1 already featured a wealthy assortment of Kameo fighter options, consisting of classic characters from the old Mortal Kombat timeline. A few of them are made available to the player from the beginning, while others must be unlocked by fulfilling certain conditions. Meanwhile, NetherRealm Studios plans to release more Kameos as DLC, similar to it’s with the playable fighters within the Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Packs. The primary of those post-launch Kameos was Tremor, who was released shortly after MK 1 guest fighter Omni-Man in November.
It won’t be long before the second Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Kameo fighter is made available to buy and download, as announced on the official Mortal Kombat 1 Twitter account. In response to this post, the following Kameo can be Khameleon, who can be unlocked on January 16. A promotional image of Khameleon herself was included on this announcement, showcasing her white ninja costume and featuring text that describes her moveset as “versatile.”
“Versatile” is a word that matches Khameleon quite well, as her primary gimmick is her ability to repeat other combatants and use a few of their abilities for herself. Khameleon was first introduced as a secret character within the Nintendo 64 version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, while the same, male version named Chameleon was included on the opposite systems. After a lengthy absence, she would return within the Nintendo Wii version of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon with an updated design. She also makes a number of transient appearances in Mortal Kombat 1’s story campaign, where she serves as a member of the Umgadi under the command of Tanya.
Many fans had assumed that the Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo version of Khameleon could be released alongside Quan Chi back in December, but this turned out to not be the case. Luckily, players won’t must wait an excessive amount of longer to unleash Khameleon’s mimic-like powers against their foes, as she’s going to finally be released on January 16. There can be more DLC Kameos added to Mortal Kombat 1 after her, with the primary wave including classic versions of Ferra, Johnny Cage, and Mavado.
