One among the largest complaints right away in The Finals is controller aim assist and zoom speed. Embark Studios has heard us and focused in on fixing zoom issues in The Finals Patch 1.4.1.
All The Finals Patch Notes 1.4.1, explained
With controversy about aim assist rising in The Finals communities, it’s great to see Embark Studios react so quickly. With Patch 1.4.1 now live, we must always see less overpowered aim assist securing kills. It’s a shorter patch, but here is the whole thing of Patch Notes 1.4.1:
- Zoom Snapping Angular Velocity now has a max cap, stopping unintended rapid 90-degree turns.
- Camera Magnetism will probably be reduced to 35% from 50%, making player aim less sticky and lowering controller accuracy.
- Zoom Snapping Time will probably be reduced to 0.25s from 0.3s.
- Zoom Snapping will probably be faraway from the SR-84 Sniper Rifle, Revolver, LH1, and all Shotguns, because it buffs them greater than other weapons.
- Aim assist will ignore invisible players, fixing a bug with the present system.
- Clients running key re-mapping programs on PC won’t have access to aim assist.
How are zoom and aim assist nerfed in The Finals?
As you may see in Patch Notes 1.4.1, aim assist and zoom snapping are the 2 primary focuses. Up to now, zoom snapping allowed players to show extremely quickly and by aiming directly at a goal which was too strong. Aim assist was also too powerful; with forgiving aim assist and zoom snapping, players were less reliant on skill and more reliant on the broken game mechanics.
Now, zoom snapping won’t help you turn 90 degrees to quickly get a kill and the SR-84, Revolver, LH1, and all Shotguns now don’t have zoom snapping in any respect. The one slight buff is the time it takes to look down the sights of any weapon has been reduced by .05 seconds.
An enormous nerf to controller players is camera magnetism getting reduced from 50% to 35%. This implies should you play The Finals on controller, your shots will probably be less accurate because there will probably be less aim assistance from the sport. Also, keyboard and mouse players can’t map an aim assist button, and so they naturally have less aim assist than controller players, which is common in FPSs.
A slight buff is that there won’t be aim assist on invisible players, which barely buffs invisibility players. While it is a fair change, I’m not convinced invisibility needed a buff. Take a look at our guide on the right way to counter invisibility should you’re having trouble with it.
